Product Description
In France, ballastless tracks adopt the same Nabla clip fastening system as ballasted tracks. Under the sleepers or under the concrete supporting blocks, boot-type elastic cushions are used to replace (simulate) the elastic fasteners provided by ballast beds. The Nabla clip fastening system is used on the French TGV high-speed line. The elastic supporting block ballastless track in the English Channel Tunnel is an example of French ballastless tracks. The Nabla clip fastening system is also the application of complete ballasted track fastening technology on ballastless tracks.
I. Applicable Railways: Usually applicable to various railway types such as ordinary railways and urban rail transit. However, on high-speed or heavy-haul railways with special requirements for fastening performance, further evaluation of its applicability may be needed.
II. Applicable Gauge: Generally suitable for railway tracks with a standard gauge of 1435 millimeters. For tracks with other non-standard gauges, customization or adjustment may be required.
III. Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:
  • Moderate clamping pressure: It has a certain clamping pressure that can effectively fix the rail on the sleeper, ensuring the stability of the rail, reducing longitudinal and lateral displacement of the rail, and ensuring the safety and smooth operation of railways. Its clamping pressure is usually within a certain range (for example, the clamping pressure of French NABLA spring clip fasteners is 11kN).
  • Good elasticity: When a train passes, it can provide a certain elastic buffer, absorb vibration energy, reduce the impact of vibration on the track structure, and improve the comfort of train operation. Moreover, the elastic stroke is also relatively reasonable.
  • Has a certain gauge adjustment ability: It can adjust the gauge to a certain extent to adapt to different line requirements and rail thermal expansion and contraction.
  • Relatively easy installation: The structural design is relatively simple. During the installation process, no complex tools and techniques are required, which can improve installation efficiency and save construction time and cost.

Disadvantages:

  • Fatigue problems may occur after long-term use: Like most metal spring clips, under the long-term action of train loads and after multiple compressions and rebounds, fatigue phenomena may gradually appear, leading to a decline in the performance of the spring clip, such as weakened elasticity and reduced clamping pressure. Regular inspections and replacements are required.
  • Limited gauge adjustment range: Although it has the gauge adjustment function, compared with some specially designed gauge adjustment fasteners, its adjustment range may be relatively small. For some special cases with large gauge changes, it may not meet the requirements.
  • There are certain requirements for environmental adaptability: In some harsh environmental conditions such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, and corrosion, the material of the spring clip may be affected, resulting in changes in its performance and a shortened service life. Corresponding protective measures need to be taken to ensure its normal use.
IV. Product Material: Generally made of metal materials with high elasticity and strength such as spring steel to meet the requirements of clamping the rail and withstanding train loads.
