To meet the requirements of track structures with less maintenance, China has developed the Type III spring clip fastening. The structure of this fastening is similar to the PANDROL e-type fastening. The fastening consists of spring clips, pre-embedded iron seats, insulated gauge blocks, and rubber base plates. Concrete sleepers do not have shoulders and it is a boltless fastening. This fastening has the advantages of fewer parts, compact structure, large clamping force, strong ability to maintain gauge, and less maintenance workload. It is especially suitable for lines using large-scale mechanical operations. However, the main disadvantage is that the fastening cannot adjust the height of the rail.
